Oil Pan Cover: Select-a-Seal Durability and Robustness

Rubber Coated Metal (RCM)

A leading manufacturer of small engines up to 25 hp wanted to explore lower-cost gaskets without sacrificing reliability.

Interface Performance Materials analyzed the performance of a rubber-edge metal gasket, a fiber gasket and a Select-a-Seal® gasket — including a 400-hour thermal cycling test. While a conventional gasket allowed leaks, the Select-a-Seal gasket demonstrated durability equivalent to the rubber-edged metal gasket, at a significantly lower cost.

Test Cycle:

-40C to 150C Continuous Cycle, 4 hours total (6 complete cycles per day) 2 psi continuous oil pressure, static charge non-circulating

  • Lower unit cost
  • Maintained high level of customer satisfaction
